PIC completed the exterior refurbishment of a U-074 fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) tank at an industrial facility in Deer Park, Texas. The refurbishment addressed existing oxidation and surface contamination while renewing protection against the chalking and discoloration associated with prolonged UV exposure.

Surface preparation began with water blasting the full tank exterior to remove accumulated dirt, oxidation, and other contaminants. PIC then mechanically sanded the cleaned FRP substrate to establish the profile required for coating adhesion. These steps prepared the existing surface for application of the specified gel coat system.

Following surface preparation, PIC furnished and applied a two-coat, white, UV-resistant gel coat system across the entire tank exterior. Both coats were applied in accordance with the manufacturer’s application requirements to renew the tank’s protective outer layer.
